British preloved retailer Rokit Vintage has partnered with Rent the Musical to supply authentic vintage clothing for the production’s 30th anniversary return to London’s West End, bringing late-1980s and early-1990s New York style to the stage.
The Jonathan Larson musical is running at the Tom Stoppard Theatre from September 26, 2026, to February 13, 2027, starring Gaten Matarazzo of Stranger Things. Dr. Martens is also supplying footwear for the production, reinforcing its punk-inspired aesthetic.
Working with costume designer Gabriella Slade, known for productions including Six and The Cher Show, Rokit is providing original vintage garments to recreate the atmosphere of New York’s East Village, where the story follows a community of young artists and creatives.
The collaboration draws on Rokit's own history. Founded in 1986, the vintage retailer shares a connection with the era and countercultural influences that shape the musical’s visual identity.
“Rokit opened in 1986 and the production’s setting closely aligns with our early days, connecting our shared audience — both drawn to counterculture, individuality and the freedom of self-expression through alternative style,” said Eibhleann McMahon, creative director at Rokit.
Alongside the stage partnership, Rokit has launched an online Rent-inspired vintage edit featuring pieces such as leather jackets, flannel shirts, band T-shirts and oversized knitwear.
